Coaching & Volunteers

Interested in coaching? Here’s how to become a coach for PYHA:

1. USA Hockey Membership

Follow the link below to register and become a USA Hockey Member. Memberships are valid for one year, which then need to be renewed if you wish to continue actively serving as a coach or volunteer next season:

2. Complete a Background Screening

The background screening must be obtained through USA Hockey and their affiliate. Follow the link below and complete the required information to obtain your background screening. Background screenings are valid through USA Hockey for 2 years, so if you completed one last season, you're covered for this season:

3. SafeSport Training

Follow the link below to complete the SafeSport training course.  SafeSport is required before engaging in any on- or off-ice activities with the players each season.  Any volunteers or team managers in the locker rooms will also need the SafeSport training annually:

4. Age-Specific Coaching Modules

Complete required age-specific coaching module(s) for the age group you intend to coach.

5. Coaching Clinics

Coaching clinics are live coaching instruction sessions, through USA Hockey, that are required for coaches as they progress through coaching various age groups and over time. Please use the link below to find the available clinic that's needed for you this season. Coaching level requirements for your specific situation will be noted in your USA Hockey Member profile.

Interested in volunteering? Here’s how to become a Team Manager or Locker Room Attendant for PYHA:

1. USA Hockey Membership

Save Your Receipts!

You can be reimbursed for the expenses that you accrue through getting your requirements met for coaching or volunteering through PYHA. Please submit your final receipts all together to Stephanie at spetri@pyha.org, for processing.
